About Me

I have been playing the piano and cello since I was a child. At school I gained my Grade 8 Cello, Grade 7 Piano and Grade 8 Music Theory and did A-levels in Music, Maths and Further Maths. I went on to study Maths at Manchester University and then started a career in Computing and IT.

Throughout my time working in IT I continued playing and studying music. I have been playing with the Manchester Beethoven Orchestra since 1990 and have played in various chamber groups and other local orchestras.

In 2006 I started helping with the year two music classes at my local infant school and discovered that I preferred it to my day job. When I started helping with the junior school orchestra in 2007 I was hooked. I took a few pupils at first and then gave up my IT job to take my Grade 8 piano and to study for a Certificate of Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, which I achieved in July 2008.

From then on my teaching practice built steadily and I currently have over ninety piano, violin and cello pupils. I teach at various Trafford primary schools and I run the school orchestra at Moorlands Junior School and teach recorder at Templemoor Infants. I am happy to teach adults as well as children.

I have recently moved to Romiley, Stockport and have availability for private lessons at my home on Mondays.
